Bear Hunts in canada
If you're not familiar with black bear hunting in Saskatchewan, especially up north in timber country, then you're missing out.

If this is something you or your crew would like to experience, than reach out to us at Timber Country Outfitters. We'd love to put you on a successful Canadian black bear hunt!
While taking advantage of our bear hunts in Canada, you can also take advantage of our fantastic walleye and pike fishing nearby. Our bear camp is close to many Saskatchewan waters holding fish, many almost untouched...

Start Your Day at Your Own Speed
Your day in bear camp begins with no early alarms or harsh wake up calls. The beauty of bear camp is the relaxed in camp environment. At Timber Country Outfitters we understand some hunters will naturally wake up throughout the morning and be hungry at different times. The late hours of bear hunting and a dinner will have hunters from across the country on different schedules. So, you’ll be able to enjoy a continental style breakfast with home made and fresh pastries and treats at your own leisure.
Morning Activities – Fishing or Early Hunt
At 9:00 AM, you have the option to enjoy some of the best fishing Saskatchewan has to offer. Cowen Lake, located near camp, is famous for its incredible walleye and northern pike fishing. We provide shore fishing equipment, and for those looking for a more immersive experience, guided fishing trips. Our fishing guides are top notch and not only want to put you on as many monster walleye and pike as possible, but they want to ensure you have an amazing experience on the water.
If you prefer, you can also choose to head straight to your bear stand for an
early sit, increasing your chances of spotting a trophy bear.
Midday Break – Lunch in Camp
After a productive morning, refuel at 1:00 PM with a delicious lunch. Enjoy hot sandwiches or a classic fish fry featuring fresh catches from Cowen Lake. After filling your stomachs with some spectacular cuisine you’ll have time to prep your gear before loading up for an action-packed afternoon.
Afternoon Hunt – The Prime Time for Bear Activity
At 2:00 PM, we load up the Polaris Rangers and head out to the stands. Each hunter will be in for an excursion across the Canadian bush where excitement awaits. You’ll converse with your guide along the way discussing bear judging and joking about the anticipation of the day! You’ll arrive to the stand potentially seeing bears already on the bait, and the guide will assist you into the spacious ladder stand and then top off your bait for the evening. Once in the stand be ready because it’s always a show when the bears arrive, and those giant black bear can slip in like a ghost at any moment. You’ll also want to make sure your camera and phone are charged because you can have quite the story to share with not only multiple bears a night but at a time on the bait. Hunting over bait is an excellent way to judge for that mature boar as well as just enjoy watching bear behavior up close and personal. If you’ve already filled your tag, you’re welcome to accompany a friend and share the experience comfortably in the two-man ladder stands.
Expect to sit for approximately six hours, as bear activity peaks in the late afternoon and evening. The anticipation builds as the sun sets, bringing increased bear movement and the perfect opportunity for a successful harvest.
Sunset Pickup & A Feast Back at Camp
Just after sunset, we’ll pick you up from your stand and head back to camp, where a home-cooked dinner awaits. Enjoy a variety of meat-and-potato-style meals, with favorites like:
- Prime rib
- Barbecue ribs
- Fresh-cut local steak
Evening Relaxation – Campfire Stories & Cocktails
After dinner, unwind with a drink and share stories from the day’s hunt with fellow hunters. The camaraderie of bear camp is one of the best parts of the experience. Then, rest up with a good night’s sleep, ready to do it all over again the next day.
